As our riders progress, it is recommended to look towards leasing a horse. They begin on our lessons horses that move them forward in their jumping from crossrails to 2' and beyond. Once the rider reaches a certain level, it is in their best interest to ride a horse that can help them achieve their next step. This is why leasing is recommended for most families, so the rider can move up to horses that are comparable in skill level to what the rider is learning.
Deciding on a horse that is suitable for the rider is an important investment, and we are willing to provide our expertise and connections within the horse community to find the right match. When looking for a horse with better skills and a higher athletic ability, keep in mind that the price will vary based on the quality of the individual. Leasing is often one-third to one-half of the purchase price of the horse, so this can be an opportunity to show the quality of horse that would otherwise be outside your current budget.
Typically when a rider reaches 3' and higher, they will often be using the same horse for the remainder of their junior career. This is when it is recommended to purchase. The price of purchase varied greatly depending on several factors: age, health, training, athletic ability, level of experience, and more. The more risks the buyer is willing to take with these factors, the cheaper the horse will be, and it will be more expensive with less risk. There are many things to consider when buying a horse, but we can help the buyer make the best decision with the experience that we have.
